Event Description:
Her Green Zanzibar is a community-based environmental conservation initiative led by the Zanzibar Female Tour Guides Cooperative Society. As part of the Nane Nane celebrations, the campaign will bring together female tour guides, local communities, youth, tourism stakeholders, and environmental advocates to participate in a large-scale coastal cleanup activity.
The primary objective of the event is to remove plastic bottles, plastic bags, and other waste materials from the shoreline and surrounding coastal environment. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the negative impact of plastic pollution on marine ecosystems, tourism, and community health.
Beyond the cleanup activity, participants will engage in environmental education and discussions on sustainable waste management, responsible tourism, and community-led conservation efforts. The event promotes environmental stewardship while encouraging greater community involvement in protecting Zanzibar's natural resources.
