Towards 1 000 plastic-free rivers by 2050
Since our start in 2019, five years ago, we have mobilized 240 000 volunteers in 100 countries during cleanup activities and removed 3,4 million kg of waste from the environment. Using this field experience and the latest scientific insights, we developed the Clean River Model: an open-source, holistic and highly scalable solution to make and keep rivers plastic-free. Our goal: validate the Clean River Model along 3 rivers by 2025 and then scale it to 100 rivers by 2030, and 1 000 rivers by 2050.

We are ready for the next step and are gathering a select group of visionary and bold philanthropists, people like yourself, to work with us to validate and scale the Clean River Model and keep rivers plastic-free. We call it The Source. Because it’s vital support at a crucial time.
By committing multi-year support of €50 000 to €500 000 for operating expenses, you create stability and accelerate growth, allowing us to validate the Clean River Model, prepare scaling to 100 rivers by 2030 and develop a secondary revenue model to secure sustainable funding for River Cleanup and its mission. With The Source, we aim for €750 000 annually for the coming two years.
