Project Description
As a rural community, our relationship with rivers extends far beyond the environment. Rivers support households, agriculture, biodiversity, livelihoods and the overall wellbeing of communities. Yet pollution, illegal dumping and poor waste management continue to threaten these vital ecosystems.
As part of Sinokuphila Foundation’s continued commitment to the Season of Creation, we will host a community-led river clean-up on 17 October 2026, mobilising community members, young people, women, faith leaders and other local stakeholders to take practical action in restoring and protecting our natural environment.
The initiative seeks to transform environmental awareness into collective action, demonstrating that protecting creation is also about protecting human dignity, health, water security, food security and future generations.
🎯 Objectives
Restore and improve the cleanliness of the selected river and surrounding area.
Raise awareness about water pollution, illegal dumping and responsible waste management.
Promote climate and water justice within rural communities.
Mobilise young people and women as environmental custodians.
Encourage community ownership of local natural resources.
