Te Whau River & Estuary Waterway Cleanup

A race against the tide - a fun event organised to find the first boat back with the largest quantity of litter picked up from the river and for the most unusual items found.
Plan for the Day:
(High tide: At 12:50pm)
All boats (other than the Safety boats) to be non-motorised.
Area 1 - Public
9.00 am Volunteers to gather at the West End Rowing Club (WERC) at 26 Saunders Place, Avondale.
9.15 am Welcome including Health & Safety briefing.
9.30 am Prepare to head out onto the water and collect litter, head upstream on an incoming tide.
Clean up litter within Area 1.
NOTE: Others who don’t have a boat are welcome to collect Litter on land around the water’s edge at nominated sites.
12.30 pm All boats to return to WERC and unload litter into skips provided.
Sea Cleaner’s boat to be unloaded by Volunteers at WERC.
1.00 pm Barbecue (WERC)
2.00 pm Event ends
