The Big Five River Clean-up Initiative is a targeted environmental effort aimed at restoring the health of the Mbezi River ecosystem while fostering a culture of conservation within the local community. The initiative's target to make different by starting to collect waste, sort materials, educate the public, prevent pollution, and restore the river in five different areas along the banks of the Mbezi River.

The primary goal is to transform the Mbezi River from a waste corridor into a vibrant natural resource through collaborative community action.

The specific objectives of the Big Five River Clean-up are as follows:

·         To systematically remove plastic waste, silt, and debris from the banks of the Mbezi River in order to prevent downstream pollution and protect aquatic life.

·         To engage local residents living near the river banks in discussions about effective ways to prevent pollution and restore the Mbezi River.
