In Celebration of World Cleanup Day 2024: Join ECCT's Marine Conservation Effort at Ndumbwi Rivers.

As part of our commitment to preserving our natural environments, ECCT is organizing a cleanup event at Ndumbwi River in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to commemorate World Cleanup Day 2024. This initiative is crucial for maintaining the health of our waterways and ensuring the resilience of local ecosystems.

The Ndumbwi River, where it meets the Indian Ocean, is flanked by mangrove trees that play a vital role in trapping pollutants and preventing large amounts of trash from entering the marine environment. Unfortunately, this area has become increasingly vulnerable to pollution. The accumulated waste not only stifles the growth of the mangrove species but also threatens the overall health of this critical habitat.

Continuous efforts to clean and restore these areas are essential, but they require the active involvement of the local community and support from all stakeholders. By participating in this cleanup, we can collectively reduce the pollution burden, protect marine life, and foster a sustainable future for our coastal ecosystems.
