Mlingotini Island Clean
The Mlingotini Island Beach Cleanup aims to restore and protect unhabituated critical coastal ecosystems of this island while raising community awareness on marine conservation and plastic pollution. The main problem is the increasing accumulation of plastic and other marine debris on the island, which threatens mangroves, seagrass beds, fish habitats and marine species while affecting local livelihoods that depend on healthy ocean ecosystems. This cleanup will help remove harmful waste, prevent further environmental degradation, generate data to inform local action, and engage community members in long-term behavior change toward proper waste management and ocean protection.
