Purpose:
To bring the community together to restore and protect a local river through litter collection and environmental awareness, while encouraging communities to take responsibility for the natural resources they depend on.
Objectives
🏞️ Clean and restore the river and surrounding environment.
♻️ Raise awareness about littering, waste management and pollution.
💧 Promote the importance of protecting clean water sources.
🌱 Connect environmental protection with climate justice.
👩🏾🤝👩🏾 Encourage meaningful participation of women and youth.
🤝🏾 Build community ownership of environmental protection.
📢 Educate participants on practical ways to care for Creation beyond the clean-up.
Activities
Riverbank litter collection
Waste separation where possible
Removal of plastic and other harmful waste
Environmental education session
Climate justice awareness
Community reflection/prayer for Creation
Group photograph and documentation
Discussion on maintaining the area after the campaign
Key message:
“Our rivers are not dumping grounds. Protecting water is protecting life, our communities and future generations.”
